The amount you receive is based on your 2007 income tax 1040 form. You must have made at least $3000 in earned income to qualify for the rebate. If your tax liability was less than $300, you and your spouse (if you're married and filed jointly) will each receive $300. If it was between $300 and $600, you'll receive that amount. If it was more than $600, you'll each get $600. You'll receive $300 for each qualifying child.

It sounds like you qualified for $300 each, as do a great many people.

You all got $300 each. Read this:
The rebate payment will equal the amount of tax liability on the return (tax liability on the return Form 1040 line 46 or Form 1040A line 28) with a minimum amount of $300 and a maximum amount of $600 for individuals.

For information on stimulus tax rebate schedule, the eligibility and how much rebate you will get read: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/02/are-you-eligible.html

It says over on the irs FAQ section for the stimulus check that if you do not get the full amount now, ya'll get the rest when you file your taxes next year. They recommend you keep the notice and take it with you when you file next year.

Q. If my stimulus payment is not going to affect my 2008 tax refund or increase the tax I owe next year, why is it I need to retain the letter that lists how much I received?

A. In the event you do not qualify for the full amount on your 2007 return but you do on your 2008 return, you will need to have the letter as a record of the amount you previously received. [New 4/11/08]

No, you get $600 for a married couple, and $300 per dependent.

La Vie Boheme
You most likely did not qualify for the whole $1200. It looks like you got $600 for married and $300 per child.

Dottie
No that's probably it.

Ok...the $1200 for married couples filing jointly is an UP TO amount!! You get between $600 and $1200 depending on your NET TAX LIABILITY on your tax forms!! So if your NTL was less than $600, you would get $600 ( for the both of you...not each) if it was between $601 and $1199...you would get that exact amount...and if it was $1200 or more...you would get just the $1200!! Check out your tax forms and this should explain it!!

And just to answer your last question...NO there is no seperate check for the dependents!! What you got is what you'll get!!

Hope this helped!! :)
