When you file your 2006 taxes you can file an amendment, this time dont do it yourself. Its worth it to have a professional do it.

File the 1040X,
The first column should be all zeros
The third column should have the Correct amounts in them.

Attach a copy of the print of the return as filed electronically, note on the top of each paige "as filed", attach a copy of the correct return. Include a copy of your receipt showing that you filed it before APRIL 15TH.

If you had a balance due with the return then also show a copy of the front and back of the canceled check.

On the bottom of page 2 of the 1040X explain what happened. There should be no late filing penalities if you paid the tax due by 4/15/xx, if you have a refund due they will mail you a check.

An experienced Tax Advisor / CPA can help you with this, the deadline for filing personal returns on extension is 10/15/06 for 2005 returns. I recommend that you complete this before that date.

MAIL IT CERTIFIED MAIL RETURN RECEIPT. The slip that the post office gives back to you is your only proof of that you actually mailed the return.

Your can download a 1040X form the link below. It cannot be filed electronically. You can file an amended return as soon as you know there is an error in the original.

You "need" some help from a tax professional. You will need to do an amendment (1040X). To do that you need to tell them what was on the original return. If you filed electronically the computer program you used must have stored the information from which you can print a paper copy. With that and all of the data that should have been in the original a tax person can do your amendment which is always a paper return. It is best to do that ASAP as the clock is running on the penalty that the IRS may want to charge you for not filing.

you should send an amendended tax form to the irs for the year you made the error before they catch it or else you gonna be in big trouble.

You can refile with a 1040X Amended Individual Return. I don't know if this can be done electronically, but best to refile as soon as possible. If not, a form can be obtained at: http://www.irs.gov/formspubs/lists/0,,id=97819,00.html

That is a Big 1040X Amended Federal income

It depends on the type of mistake that was made. Many mathematical errors are caught in the processing of the tax return itself. If you did not attach a required schedule the service will contact you and ask for the missing information.

If you did not report all your income or did not claim a credit, you are entitled to file an amended or corrected return using Form 1040X (PDF), Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return. Include copies of any schedules that have been changed or any Form W-2 (PDF) you did not include. The Form 1040X (PDF) should be submitted after you receive your refund or by the due date of the return, whichever, is earlier. Generally, to claim a refund, the Form 1040X (PDF) must be received within three years after the date you filed your original return or within two years after the date you paid the tax, whichever is later.

go to this websit to file out your 1040x
