I had to do this at Strelley Nottingham recently. The queue is enormous so take a book. They will be able to do it all for you there. Take all your documentation in relation to the car. They won't cover you for the weekend. I don't think I'd drive the car until you take it to DVLA on Monday. |

You need the insurance documents, the MOT certificate, and the little green slip you should have got when you bought it, thats the part from the log book you have to fill in, if you havnt got it you have to fill in a form to declare change of ownership, so take all the information you can, or it will take ages! |

Because its a 'disabled' tax disc and you want to change it to a normal one, you cannot, as some as advising, simply fill in a D10 and renew it at the post office. You have to go, with all your documents and money (or cheque) to the special DVLA office in your area (although I used to live in Nottingham (Carlton and Bingham) I can't remember where it is, but the post office will tell you,. It could be Strelley). There is always a massive queue, but they get through them all eventually and you'll walk away with your new tax disc. Go very early!
Extra info : If you need to change a normal tax disc into a disabled one, its a straight forward process at the post office. |

You need to go to a main post office and they will give you a form to fill in (I think it is a V10) to send to the DVLA. You will need to show them your Vehicle Registration Document to prove that you are the legal owner, a valid insurance cerificate and MOT certificate if the vehicle requires one. They should then be able to supply you with a new tax disc. |
