I have just recieved $300 from the IRS when they have already paid me my taxes. What is the deal?
I just checked my bank account and SUPRISE there is $300 from the IRS when I have already got my taxes back from them. Should I wait a while to spend that money, maybe they will take it back. Or could this be a refund from past years because I didn't claim EIC because I though I didn't qualify.

That is most likely the tax rebate that they are sending out to everyone that filed a 2007 tax return this year. Enjoy!

If it was exactly $300 it is most likely your Economic Stimulus check from the IRS. $300 is the base amount a single adult would get if they had no children. You can read more about it here: http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=177937,00.html

It's your stimulus check. The money is yours to spend if you want!

Geez, where have you been hiding that you hadn't heard about the stimulus rebate? Sounds like you qualified (if you earned over $3000 for 2007 and aren't a dependent you most likely did) so they sent you $300. You're good to go ahead and spend it. What a nice surprise!

Gary
Where have you been lately since last January? The $300 that you received is extra. It is part of the Economic Stimulus package that you qualified for when you filed your 2007 income tax return. Check out the irs.gov web site and read about it.

its your economic stimulus check...current events, a wonderful thing

Jss
This is stimulus rebate.

Stimulus rebate is not refundable or taxable income. on the other hand, if you do not receive full amount of $600 now, then you may get the balance amount when you file your 2008 return, and you become eligible for the tax rebate.

For information on stimulus tax rebate schedule, the eligibility and how much rebate you will get read: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/02/are-you-eligible.html

This is your federal tax stimulus check...every tax filer that made more than $3000 in income in 2007, is not claimed as a dependent on someone elses tax return, and is a permenant resident of the USA gets one. The minimum is $300 which is what you got. They are doing this to pump some money into the economy...so please spend it and be happy. If you want all sorts of detailed info on the rebate checks see the IRS website!

It's probably your stimulus payment from the government. Everyone that filed taxes is suppose to receive an economic stimulus "check" in addition to any refunds they may get. They hope everyone goes on a spending spree with it to help boost the economy. Go to www.irs.gov to get more info.
