You don't remember who you worked for? Then they will probably let you go if you plea insanity. I don't think they will believe you though.

Doctor Deth
if you had refunds coming to they are gone for good now except for the last 3 yrs

anthony s
sucks for you dude. no sympathy for you. you should do them every year

JJ
thats easy. if you havnt filed taxes in 10 years, then you havnt been working for 10 years. understand what im saying? just dont do anything. if you dont have w-2's for those years definatly dont bother. never go to the irs and say "i owe you". let them come to you. your probably not even worth thier time. its a known 'secret" that tens of millions of people in america dont pay taxes at all. and the government cant keep up with it, they also cant admit how big of an issue it is, or else everybody else will say the hell with it, im not paying if they aren't. just start paying this year and nothinbg will happen to you, even if they ever came and said hey why havnt you filed, just say "i wasnt workin i was a bum" then see if they come back with any proof that u were working, its not gonna happen.

regardless if you dont want to pay any taxes at all anymore just vote for Ron Paul. he's gettin rid of income tax all together. besides only poor people pax taxes, rich people dont. income tax only applies to the first 90 G's you make. everything after that is tax free WTF?!!!!

Find as many of your former employers as you can.

If you've really worked a lot of jobs - had a lot of turnover, temp work, pissed off bosses, or got pissed off and quit, then this might be hard.

Also file a request with Social Security benefits request, because this will at least tell you how much you earned according to Social Security's system.

Some tips are at: http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc154.html

The IRS will.. You are going to drop a major red flag the minute you file ....

I am speaking from experience. I had a couple of friends who did the same thing you have done and when they filed (because they figured it out that that year they would get a refund if they filed) The IRS snagged them . I ended up doing their taxes for them and the one had to go back 4 years and I did returns for them

As a matter of policy enshrined in the IRS manual, they will not solicit more than six years worth of delinquent returns unless there is fraud. Negligence is not fraud.

Call IRS at 800-829-1040 and it can provide you an information returns transcript with all the W-2's and 1099's you have received for the last six years.

If you have a refund due, the return must be filed within three years of the original due date or the statute of limitations for claiming the refund expires. For now, this means returns for 2004 and later.

Similarly, if you have self-employment income, it must be reported within three years of the original due date or the statute of limitations for having your Social Security account credited expires but you will still owe the self-employment tax.

I suspect that if you owe anything, the amount will be low or IRS would have been in contact with you before now.
