As long as you don't owe for any of those 6 years, you're ok. Just remember that once you start to file, you must keep doing so. It is only illegal to defraud the federal government. It isn't illegal to let them keep your refund. In fact, they like that! No probably can't go back more than a few years for a refund. Call the 800 number & ask them. As long as you weren't getting paid in cash & your employer was paying in for you, you won't get into any trouble. People are misinformed on this subject. Since you have to start somewhere, I'd suggest you go with the current year & you will be notifed if the IRS wants more info regarding your past 6 years. It's going to raise red flags if you start asking for 6 years of back refunds & I do believe the new law has made this next to impossible to attain all of those back years in refunds. I'd call & ask an IRS representative ASAP! |

If you have worked and had an income these past six years, and have not filed, you are gonna be soooo screwed. You need to take care of this right away. Find a good accountant. Good luck. |

Why haven't you filed taxes in 6 years? You may have to pay in and pay for the 6 years that you missed. |

It all depends on how many red flags you raise. You might get audited, you might get your refund. As Dirty Harry would ask, Do you feel lucky ? |
