I have still not received a W-2 from a past employer. They refuse to send a copy.?
I have contacted this employer numerous times regarding this issue and owner has refused to talk to me about it. I have also contacted the IRS and they are going to send a letter to the employer, but if the employer still refuses to send another copy? The employer sees this as a hassle.

Do you have the last pay stub from that job? That will provide you with a starting point at least, as it should have y-t-d info on it, so you'd know your total gross and net salaries, plus taxes withheld. It's unlikely he will ignore the IRS- once he hears from them, it will be more of a hassle to deal with them, than it is to send a W2 out. Make sure they have your correct address.

Rob
You have done all you could, the IRS will fine the employer if they do not issue the W2 to you.

wizjp
Not many employers are going to ignore a request from the IRS. Wait till you hear from them; if they are ignoring the IRS, there isn't much you can do till they are thru with them.

It's good that you contacted the IRS. I would get an accountant and get them to "hassle" your former employer. As soon as the IRS gets involved I'm sure the former employer will gain a new understanding of the term "hassle".

Good luck. :)

Sending out W-2s wouldn't be NEARLY as much of a hassle for this employer as explaining to the IRS why they think it's too much of a hassle to do.

If you don't hear anything in another week or two, contact the IRS again and talk to them about how you can file without a W-2. If you have your last paystub, they should be able to help you through this.

Don't contact the x employer any more, let the IRS handle it. When I comes to the last few day and you haven't gotten it, call the IRS again.

nova_queen_28
you should be able to file your taxes based upon your last pay stub.

if you have last pay stub, should have most of basics for you to do good faith stab at filing your taxes. just include a letter stating the situation and that you have already reported this to irs. important thing is for you to file. if employer has reported to irs and just lost your copy, irs will correct any mistakes you make. there is also the chance here that employer is engaging in fraud and hasn't reported, or even hasn't remitted withholding etc etc.

dodilouque
Report them to the IRS.

my former employer, Steel Magnolias llc is refusing to send my W-2. I have repeatedly called and spoke with both managers to no avail. i am in a situation that they neither care of willing to do anything about. they are a private company that owns a Jefferson's Restaurant and have been ignoring and refusing to take my calls. I need help.
