You petition the court for a reduction in payment amount. Get a list of your bills together and what you pay out each month. They are only going to conisder necessities (i.e. cell phone, cable, internet etc will not be considered).

Good luck!

you should be able to go before a judge an ask for them to lower it..is this for one child? if it is then they should be able to lower it some how.. if its for two children then good luck because that seems like a decent amount for 2 kids.. i am paying almost 200 on my son and my income is a tad lower than yours.

You have to go back to court and get a judge to agree to a reduction.

ask to request a review on your child support case at your local child support office. they have to review you and your babys mama living situations and all that stuff and they will decide whether or not they should lower your payments...

good luck

You would have to go to court. Have you actually seen the costs of taking care of children? Is there childcare? Do you know how much it costs? You are getting off cheap. My friend actually had to get a second job just to make ends meet when he got divorced and had to pay child support.

you can have an adjustment hearing with social services based on your current earnings, but this is only done on a 3 year basis. So if you have one done now neither party can have another one done for another 3 years.

I would strongly consider that your child needs that money. It is very expensive to take care of a child today. Don't take food out of her/his mouth.

The amount does seem a lot in terms of how much you make. A judge can hear your side of things and make that determination. I would start by calling the court clerk and asking them the procedure for your state.
