I havent done my 2006 Taxes yet... what should i do?
I havent done my 2006 Taxes yet... what should i do? Additional Details I probably owe taxes for 2006.... i was wondering wether it would be wise do hire a tax pro or just do them myself .... I expect a refund for 2007, the fact that i owe for 2006 should not impact my refund right? Thanks for the input!
File your 2006 now. When you file your 2007 IRS will not release your refund until you have filed 2006, if you owe IRS will offset your refund and send you the difference if any left.

Do your 2006 taxes and mail the return in. Duh!
?
Get caught up NOW! It only gets worse the longer you wait.

If you think you will owe then at least get them filed and apply for an extension to pay (if neccessary) If you think you will be receiving a refund then do them at the same time that you do your 2007. Then you will get two fat checks at once.

Get them filed.
There is no penalty from the IRS if you have a refund coming.
If you owe, they will charge penalties and interest.

You should file them asap. If you were to receive a refund you will still receive it and if you owe taxes you will have to pay them and you will also have to pay a fine , the more you wait the higher fine you will have to pay.

do them! Simple.

File as soon as you can - there is a limit - 3 years - to claim any refund due you.

Never file tax returns. The government has no right to take money from you. They are thieves and cheats. Taxation without representation is against the Constitution.
