Yes it's a fraud. So is the Federal Reserve. But they'll still screw us over since we're all nothing but their sheep.

What you heard is b.s. If you don't pay your taxes, they will eventually catch up with you and fine you and then garnish your wages. It will be a lot worse than having bad credit.

You heard foolish talk. It is most definitely, absolutely, and incontrovertibly illegal to not pay your taxes. People who say otherwise are idiots or liars or both.

NGC6205
You heard wrong.

Income tax laws are codified in Title 26 of the U.S. Code. In section 7202 - "Willful failure to collect or pay over tax" it states, "Any person required under this title to collect, account for, and pay over any tax imposed by this title who willfully fails to collect or truthfully account for and pay over such tax shall, in addition to other penalties provided by law, be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than $10,000, or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both, together with the costs of prosecution."

Regardless of what you might have heard or read, most Americans and residents of the U.S. are required to pay income taxes. I suggest you go to http://evans-legal.com/dan/tpfaq.html and look up all those silly tax protester arguments you have been reading and see why they are wrong.

EDIT:
Joe Banister is an idiot. While he escaped prosecution for his claim that there is not law, some of his "clients" have not been so lucky. Most notably was Walter Thompson who ended up serving several years in prison for following Banister's advice. Additionally, criminal charges for not filing tax returns is still a possibility for Banister.

Sherry Peel Jackson is another idiot. She was making a decent living as a CPA and could have done well for herself. However, she got deluded by the tax protester movement. She was convicted on Oct. 30, 2007 of four counts of failure to file income tax returns. On Feb. 14, 2008, she was sentenced to four years in federal prison which is the maximum sentence allowed by law. Not only does she have to serve a prison sentence, SHE STILL HAS TO PAY THE TAXES AND PENALTIES.

THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL I SAW THEM ON THE INTERNET:

Nobody ever really landed on the moon - it was a giant hoax. What you saw on TV was filmed in Utah.

Elvis is still alive, and performing marriage ceremonies in Las Vegas.

It is unconstitutional for the government to tax your wages (income tax), the 16th amendment was never ratified, and most of what we think of as income isn't really income anyway.

Excuse me now....I just won 2 million pounds in the online UK lottery when my email was randomly selected, and I have to go answer the email.....

;-}

Congratulations, you are the first person today to jump on the conspiracy bandwagon. Hooray for you.

Congress created the IRS and authorized it to establish regulation and collect tax. The IRS is as legal as anything in the government. Refuse to pay taxes and they confiscate your property to pay the taxes plus penalties. You may also go to prison for fraud.

Shane M
ever heard of tax evasion? people go to prison for that.
But yea I believe the IRS is crooked, but that's my opinion
I agree with doobsta

vangorn2000
That there is no law requiring you to pay income tax is a complete myth perpetuated by Bill Benson purely for propoganda purposes, taking advantage of the fact that the average American simply does not know where to find such a written law.

The TRUTH is that Title 26 of the U.S. Internal revenue code (and yes, that IS law) does in fact require you to pay tax on your income.

And yes, you can be cited for breaking such tax laws with fines and jail time if you don't pay them.

dwayne4emily
Yes I heard that also, however I wouldnt recommend it. The IRS has more power than any government agency should have a right to. They can take your home, your wages, and all your belongings...they are the judge and jury, and make up their own rules as they go along.
