I just read that you are more likely to be audited by the IRS if you file early. Is this true?
No your return will not be picked for an audit until months after it has been filed probably closer to a year. They create a scoring system based upon all the returns filed (DIF score). If your score is too high it is pulled for review and possibly an audit. THis takes time.

No, many people file early if they are expecting a refund. This is standard procedure. If you have to pay, it makes more sense to file in April.
