Yes, if it is accompanied by a check to cover the penalty and interest you are going to be charged.

You better check your pay stubs .. maybe they hit you during the year and you did not realize it... if not then you will be paying Late Fees in addition to the Tax Amount You Owed... so what about this year..do you own more? If you're expecting a refund then kiss that sucker goodbye...
You better stay on top of this because " Don't you realize people do go to jail for not paying their taxes."

Judy1
Sure they will, as long as you had a refund coming and didn't owe anything. And they'll send you your refund, even though you are filing very late. But if you owed anything, the'll charge you interest and penalties.

buttercup
LOL I don't think some your readers are getting it. And no you weren't chosen by the Messiah to head the Treasury Dept. Only the chosen ones and the lazy ones will get away with not paying taxes.

thomken2
if you owe taxes then there will be a yrs worth of interest.

I'm don't see how you forget to pay taxes, nor will the government. I don't know what you mean by accepting your hic-up, but you will eventually have to pay them, no one wants to pay back taxes, it's a really really crappy thing, not to mention they can garnish your wages... so pay your taxes...

I don't see why you should feel you have to pay your back taxes, unless you want to become head of the IRS. Besides, unless it has happened more than once, I'm sure it would just be considered a little embarrassing. It it has happened more than once, you should be a shu in for an Obama appointment.

Go talk to H&r Block or one of those tax advisors. The sooner you fix this the better off you are. Don't wait. Call them asap. Each day is costing you interest and late fees and penalties. Good luck.

I'm sure they won't hassle you too much. After all Obama's pick for head of the Treasury didn't pay all of his either. He has to pay now...so be prepared to make up for what you owe.
