just contact your employer and explain your situation.

contact your employer. Due to the late date you might need to file an extension since you must attach the w-2s. You can get the amounts on your last pay stub. An extension is only extra time to FILE the return. You don't get extra time to pay.

Abe
As stated by many of the other people here, you can request a duplicate original of your W-2 from your employer. If you are unable to obtain on in time for the 4/17 filing deadline, you do have an alternative that can be used in a pinch.

Form 4852 is the "Substitute for Form W-2". If y ou are unable to obtain a new W-2, or find your original W-2's, you can use this form as a substitute and make sure that you are in compliance with your filing requirements.

Mr Chris
Just contact HR, it shouldn't take them more than a couple days.

your employer has to by law give you another copy

Judy1
Contact the companies that gave them to you and ask for copies.

If you contact your employer before the 15th, you should be able to get a copy with no problem. After that, all they can give you is a copy of their file information, but the IRS will accept that as well.

Ask employer for another copy. If you don't get them in time: If you are expecting a refund, you don't need to file an extension. If you owe the gov't money, you have to file an extension. They could care less if they owe you money--you have up to 3 years to file.

Call your employer and ask them for a copy. They will make you a copy and either mail it to you or you can pick it up.

Amy F
Try to get a duplicate W-2 from your employer. If you can't you can use your last paystub from the year to create a substitute W-2 but you won't be able to electronically file.

Call your employer for a copy. Be prepared, your employer can charge you for a duplicate.
