There are cases where you MIGHT need to follow, but there is not enough information here. The best thing to so is look at the following link from the IRS web site. It will guide you through if you need to file or not. |

for the year? if that is all that you made you don't even need to file taxes! |

You will still get a W-2, and would even if you had made $1 as an employee.
But if that's your only income for the year, and you aren't filing a joint return with a spouse, then you don't need to do anything with the W-2. If you have children living with you who would qualify you for EIC though, then you could file and get an earned income credit.
If you are filing a joint return, then you need to show the income from the W-2 on your joint return. |

If there were no taxes taken out, it will say $0 on your W2 anyway. If you are going to claim that income there is another form you file. |

You should still be issued a 1099 (not a w-2) by law, but minimum to have to file is around $9000.
YOU will not get in trouble if 1099 is not issued. Employer will if they get audited. They are required to issue you a 1099 if they pay you over $600. |

They will still send you a w2 since you earned wages. You dont need to file though |

You should still receive a W-2 unless you were working on a 1099 basis but the good news is you won't owe anything coz you are way under the minimum. If you were working as a 1099 employee (no with holdings) where you are responsible for your own taxes at the end of the year (or quarterly) I believe the maximum you can earn without even having to report it is about $1000 although I have also heard the max is $600 so call a tax preparer like H & R Block, Jackson Hewitt or just a local tax guy (or gal) and ask them what you are required to do. |

this is one of those gray areas.
there is a limit to what you have-to meet to actually NEED to file,.....but at the same time,......it IS earned income.
say example,.....and I am pulling a number out of thin air..
say that the limit is $10,000 a year...your little money is not at that limit.
but it IS .......earned.....income.
I'd say,.....go see a tax man and ask......ya know, just to see.
best wishes. |
