Your rebate does not depend on whatever refund you may have received from your 2007 federal income tax.
The tax rebate is based on your 2007 earnings and Federal Income Tax liability.
You would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $600 if you paid that much in Federal Income Tax. If you only paid $350 in taxes (less than the $600 rebate limit), you only get back $350. If you had earned income or social security of at least $3000, you would get at least the minimum rebate of $300. Similarly, couples filing jointly can receive up to $1200. If you qualify for a rebate, you will receive $300 for each dependent child under 17.

Rebate check is based on your incoming, not your taxes.
And by rebate check, I'm guessing you mean Bush's stimulus plan. You have to make a minimum amount to get money.
For example, if you made $200 for the year, you won't be getting a $1200 check. |

Your rebate check is based on the following factors:
1. Did you make more than $3000 in taxable income? This means, on your gross income, did you earn more than $3000?
2. Was your tax liability more than zero? This means, overall, did you pay the government any money? Most people overpay and are given money back, but don't confuse this with actually paying. You may pay the government $2000, and you should have paid $800, so they pay you back $1,200. This still means you have a tax liability of $1,200, meaning you will get the $600 maximum ($1200 for couples). |

Your question lacks sufficient details to be answered correctly. You "made $200 on my taxes". Does that mean that your adjusted gross income was $200 or your rebate was $200? If your adjusted gross income was $200, then you're check will be for $200. If you tax liability was, say $1000, and you got $200 back, then you will receive a check for $600. |

Duane K is WRONG...the rebate is based upon your income AND the amount of taxes you paid...if you had no tax liability then you would recieve no rebate. When you say you "made" $200 that tells me that you got a tax refund meaning you paid more in that what your tax liability was. As long as your tax liability was more than your rebate amount you will get the full rebate, if it was less then you will recive a pro-rated rebate.
If you have a copy of your 2007 return I would highly recomend you go to https://www.irs.gov and use their rebate calculator to determine the exact amount you will recieve. |
