I owe a lot of $$ to IRS for taxes of 07 and I dont have the money to pay em.?
And I already have a payment plan with them for taxes from 06. Therefore, I cant set up another payment plan. Thing is I will have the money from a business deal that can take care of all the 07 money due to IRS but not in time by april 15th. If i just file my return..how long will it take IRS to sent me their computerized reply regarding the money i owe them? I am hoping they respond by say June and give a a couple of months to clear..?? whjat do you think?? and this way my existing payment plan with them for taxes from 06 can continue as before. SERIOUS RESPONSES ONlY. Thanks.

Ms. Angel..
You are right about not being able to request another IA but IRS will let you do it even though you agreement states they per you pay any new balances in full. You can ask for the 2007 balance to be combined with your 2006 Installment Agreement/ You can make a monthly payment proposal and the payment will be added to the payment you are now making.(so if you pay $500 now and proposal $400 your monthly payment will increase to $900 per month. The only thing is if your TOTAL balance due is over 25K ; you payment proposal will be rejected and a Form 433-F; Collection Information Statement will be required. This form request that you provide 3 month bank statements, 3 months pay stubs and If you are self employed you will have to provide Form 433-B; and Loss And Profit statement and bank statements. Once IRS process your Form 433F they will let you know if the total payment proposal is approved.
You can't not request an extension to pay since you are on an installment agreement. Even if you don't request an installment agreement for 2007 IRS employee will include your 2007 balance and raise the payment if total balance will not be paid in 60 months.

I am in the same boat and have been the past several years. Seem to owe everytime. I just call and they readjust the balance and add it to the existing.

You should still file on time, even if you can't pay. Then make payment, with interest and penalties, as soon as you can.

Also, if you are eligible for the tax rebate, my understanding is you won't receive it - it will be applied toward past due taxes, if there are any at that time.

Well they will grab your rebate and apply to taxes.
You need to file your return and make a partial payment of taxes to avoid getting hit with major penalties and interest. You will get interest on unpaid amounts, and likely penalties, too. Why are you repeating your mistakes? So you file and request a payment plan, and even though you don't qualify, they tend to roll it all together.

Filing an extension will NOT help. That's an extension of time to file, not to pay taxes.

Just contact them on what to do. Better than note doing anything.

this used to be a problem for my husband every year when he was considered self employed, & didn't pay in quarterly, they let him make monthly payments, all you gotta do is ask them maybe they still do that.??

J P
Just file for an extension and pay them when you can. I believe extensions last until August 15th so if that gives you enough time, do that. If not, pay what you can, and let them bill you for the rest. It usually takes about 30-90 days for them to actually follow up and start billing.

file an extension NOW. Call a tax person and find out what to do beyond that.
