If you have $3,000 in qualifying income and file a Federal Income tax return prior to Oct 15th 2008 you should be eligible for a stimulus payment. If you are in the arrears with IRS payments from prior years they will keep the stimulus payment and apply that toward your arrears payments.

You need at least $3000 in qualifying income in order to get the stimulus. (ie. wage income, self-employment income, social security income- non SSI).

If you have enough income, file the return. The stimulus ($300) will be put towards what you owe.

They will take what they owe.....they did it to me!

If you file a return showing that you are eligible, you'd be eligible for a stimulus payment. Your payment would be taken and applied to what you owe.
Deadline for filing is Oct 15.

If the disability income is social security disability, that's eligible income for the stimulus - if it's some other kind, it isn't. And SSI is not eligible income.

Generally speaking, no one can "apply" for a stimulus check. They are sent automatically based on information reported on 2007 tax returns.

If you have not already done so, you should file your 2007 tax return immediately. The IRS will then determine whether you are entitled to a stimulus rebate, how much of it they should keep for the back taxes you owe, and how much (if any) to send you.

If you are eligible for a stimulus check based on qualifying non-taxable income, but are not required to file a 2007 return, then you should send in the paperwork to request the stimulus check based on qualifying non-taxable paperwork. The IRS will then determine whether you are entitled to a stimulus rebate, how much of it they should keep for the back taxes you owe, and how much (if any) to send you.

You could be eligible but the rebate will be offset to your IRS debt. Once you have your tax return prepared visit the IRS website and use the stimulus calculator and you will know if you are eligible for the rebate.

You get your stimulus check after you send in your tax return. If you owe money they will take it from your refund. If you don't get a refund, you will most likely not get a stimulus check since it is based in part on the taxes you have paid

My sister owed taxes and when she received her stimulus check it had taken out all she owed. So yes, I think if you qualify for stimulus they will apply that toward your tax debt.
