As you paid emergency tax at previous job, a form P45 wouldn't be of much help to you. Emergency pay and tax don't get shown on new employer's copies of form P45. It looks as though employment history wasn't complete when starting previous job.
You will have to contact tax office. Staff will want to know your employment history from 6th April last (the start of this tax year) until you started new job. If you can't supply part 1a of P45(s), forms P43 can be sent to old employer(s), although this means getting you sorted takes a bit longer. When a cumulative code number can be issued, any refund due will be made by new employer with your wages.
NB. Centre 1 should only be contacted by Scottish employees. They don't deal with England, Wales or Northern Ireland. |

Contact the inland revenue straight away to get it sorted. |

You can either ask your new employer for a P46 or, since you've already started, ask them for the number of the tax office they use. Give this tax office a call and explain to them what's happening and they'll fix your tax code.
Once this is done, your next few wages will contain more pay to make up the extra tax you've paid. |

Telephone HMRC quoting your national insurance number. Explain it to them and they should instruct your current employer to alter the code and HMRC will send you a cheque. (Normally within 2 weeks)
HMRC Site google them for the telephone number.
Good luck! |

i had to contact the inland revenue, who sent me out a form, which i had to tell which jobs i worked, how much i earned, and my payroll numbers, so make sure you have a payslip from each place handy, it usually gets sorted out in about 4 weeks from sending it off |

It is a p45 you need from your employer, a p60 is what you get from your employer at the end of the tax year in April. Ask your previous employer for a P45, however you can fill out a P46 with your new employer and you should also contact your local tax office they will tell you how to claim your tax back.
Have a look at the website it will tell you all you need to do. |

You don't get a p60 when you leave a job you get a p45.
A p60 is for the end of the tax year.
Either contact your wages department and ask for a p46 or contact the tax office and ask them for one. Once this is filled out, your tax code will be calculated and you will receive your tax rebate either in your pay or by cheque. |

p60's only come out in April. You should have got your p45 when you left your old job. Once your new employers sort it out with tax office, you should get a rebate in with your salary. Or you could phone centre 1 and sort it out yourself. Number is in the phone book under Inland revenue. Good luck! |
