It will depend on how much profit you make. In the UK, you are allowed to make £6035 per year profit before you have to pay tax. To cover yourself, you should register your self-employment with HMRC, complete an annual Tax Return, with a self-employment age. Keep all records for seven years (this year, and six back years).
If HMRC pick up on you, and you have no records, they will estimate profits. You would find the estimate impossible to disprove if you have no records. |

Sure. All income is taxable. So if you make a profit, that profit is taxed just like wages on a paycheck. Being a student gives you no special exemptions. |

There's a certain amount of income that you don't have to pay tax on up to around £4600 a year I believe.
"You can earn up to £4,615 a year without being taxed. Beyond this amount, you will be taxed at 10 per cent up to £6,575, and at 22 per cent between £6,575 and £35,115."
PS as long as you don't register as a business on Ebay, then you aren't trading as a business, and therefore don't have to pay tax. |
