I stil haven't gotten my tax return back!?
I filed an extension for my taxes in April and had until Oct. 15th to file. I sent everything in around the middle of September and still have not receieved my tax returns....is this normal? I'm so confused!

Check the IRS.GOV site. If they got the return they have 45 days to send your refund to you by law. Any amount of time after the 45 days they will have to pay you interest on the money due you.
If it has taken this long there could be a problem with them having received your return.

go to irs.gov click on the where is my return link, it asks for your soc # (the primary one if you filed jointly) and then the amt of your expected return--it will then tell you if it has been recieved and processed and an expected date to get it (if it has been processed) otherwise it will say something to the effect that your return has been received and is being processed, please check back later.

It takes a long time to receive the money especially if you filed and extension. Be patient and It will come.

yes, because you were late, you can expect that your return will be late.

look up the phone number for IRS and there would be a number for refunds. Then you type in your info and it tells you when they will mail it out

I've never filed an extension, so I don't know whats normal. The link below is the IRS "Where's My Refund" page. You will need the SSN, Filing Status, and Refund amount from you return.

Confused
contact the IRS and find out if they even got it. most likely your lost in the system.

If you sent it in mid-September, you should get it soon if you haven't already.

Go to irs.gov and click on "Where's My Refund" in the left column on the main page. You'll have to enter some info including the amount of your refund, but it should at least let you know the status. If you don't find it there, call the IRS.

The typical federal income tax return is processed and refund mailed, if applicable, to the taxpayer in 6-8 weeks. That timeframe is cut in half when the returns are filed electronically.

If you filed in the middle of September, then the refund is beyond that timeframe. Therefore I will tell you two ways to find out the status of your refund.

1st - check on the IRS website, www.irs.gov, and check on "Where's My Refund" which will tell you the status of your return and refund.

OR

2nd - call 1-800-829-1040 and either get the automated system or talk directly to a representative.

For both ways, make sure you have your social security number, the status you used (single, married, head of household), and the amount of your refund.

Good luck!!
