hybrid_is_marion | I want to give my first paycheck to my parents but...how do I do it? |
I'm starting my first "job" per se, doing a paid internship at an investment bank. I want to give my parents my first paycheck, but to do so I'd probably have to mail it to them. Only thing is, I'm not so sure how to go about doing this, or if it's even possible.
If my employer writes the check out to me, can I reimburse it on the back, and then mail it to my parents? And they can cash it in for themselves? But what if my employer does direct deposits?
Does anyone know how I might be able to do this?
Thank you so much for your help! Additional Details Edit-- Hah. Reimburse. I meant "endorse". |

You can't endorse the check over to them - that's called a 3rd party check and most banks won't take them.
I'd suggest taking it to your bank and then either sending your parents a personal check or getting a money order at your bank. |

Cash the check yourself, or take the money out of your account (if directly deposited) and get a money order to mail to them. That, in my opinion, is the best way to do it. |

cash it and get a money order made out to your parents and mail that to them maybe? |

You can endorse it over to them if you wish.
Flip it over and on the endorsement area print:
Pay to the order of Mary Smith, without recourse. (Use one of your parents' names of course.)
Sign your name beneath that statement and date it, but leave enough room for them to endorse it so that they can cash or deposit the check. |

Do NOT mail a check you have endorsed!!! IF it is stolen en route anyone can cash the check. It would be better to write them a check from your account and put it in a thank you card that expresses how you feel about everything they have done for you. |

You are a child any parent would be proud to call their own. They must be such fine people to have raised someone like you! Cash the check and mail them the amount from your own account-and many blessings to you! |

Deposit it into THEIR bank account from where you are without cashing it. Yes you would endorse the check (sign it), and simply deposit it through a teller at a bank branch near you. Hope that's an option, because it is the easiest way.
MUCH SAFER. |

Do you have a bank account?
If not, go ahead and open one - it'll be easier and more beneficial in the longrun.
If do, cash the check and either 1) send them cash OR 2) write them a check. |

If they pay you on a paper check, just print on the back before you sign it:
Pay to the order of
Robert and Susan Smith
and then sign your name below that as it appears on the front, and mail it to them.
Or else, including if you get direct deposited, just write your own check to them for the same amount. |

Just cash it in yourself and then mail it to your parents |

Put it in your bank account. Make a paypal. Have them make a paypal. Easy transfer to their email. Safe and secure.
Haha four thumbs down.
Flip it around and shove it in your bums.
Paypal is the easiest way. Just do it electronically. Good luck. |
