I would not work for any employer now who pays less than £10 per hour?
I think employers who pay less than this are really bad employers. when I earnt less than this I felt totally worthless And
I felt my employers abused my intelligence. I think people who earn less than this should not work so hard. If the employer asks why just say you cant think I am worth very much. What do you think?

I quite agree, I think the minimum wage should be at least £7.50 an hour, anything less is insulting, even for menial jobs. Everything is so expensive these days that all you can do oon anything less is scrape by in a constant struggle to pay the bills. I'm earning around £8 an hour at the moment, people think this is good money, but it's not!! Not when you consider the price of housing, council tax, food and necessities etc. People are forced to give up so much of their time to work, they should at least get a decent wage for it... it is disgusting that in a country this rich there are people earning £150 a week for 40 hours work. Our time and our happiness is important to us, but so many people are living in poverty despite their hard work because they are so badly underpaid for it.

God - you really feel special don't you? I had to do 2 jobs for years as a single parent & raised 4 children and I just did the jobs I could . I have earned as much as £27 per hour but also worked as a care worker for less than £4 perhour and had to clean up dementia patients covered in faeces for that . but I'm glad to say I did it and did not rely on benefits. perhaps you just think you are too good to do a proper job?

you get much less than £10/hr on the dole! I do not like your attitude - peolpe who work hard and earn the minimum wage are far from worthless!

I agree with Denise - who the hell do you think you are. So you have a job paying £10 per hour - lucky you. I earn less than this and I dont feel worthless. I love my job and the reason my employer doesnt pay more is she cant afford to. Not everything in life is about money - not everyone is materialistic but obviously you are.

Sad thing is, I'd love to earn £10.00 an hour, but I'm a supply TA in a school, care workers are undervalued and jobs are really hard to come by nowadays. You are right, but most people have to take less, as they really don't have any choice, which is so sad. Most people aren't in the position of being able to price themselves out of a job.

i agree we should be on more money im 24 and i get 5.35 an hour im a nursery nurse but its highly unlikely i would get anymore pay nevermind i love my job

well then you shouldn't feel bad about paying 5 pounds for a cup of coffee. The more that people get paid the more things cost. I think that those who add value are compensated accordingly and those who can be simply replaced in a minute are compensated accordingly. So add 10 pounds per hour in value and you won't have to work for employers paying less.

One question... are you saying you won't work for less than that amount or are you saying you won't work for a company that pays the lowest paid employee less than that. If it's the latter than you are ok with others getting paid less but somehow feel more entitled? Work wherever you choose for whomever you choose, good luck.

Go to school, gain a skill, get a good job and work your butt off.

not really. Some ppl cant earn that much because they dont work tht hard.

Why are you boasting about your intelligence. The way that you have worded your "question" and lack of grammatical ability (not to mention some lousy punctuation) shows that you do not very high literary skills. Also, you are probably somewhat inarticulate too.
My guess is that you also regularly punctuate your speech with expletives.

In that light, I'd be surprised if anyone would employ you in any role requiring intelligence.

If you really think that you're worth more than £10/hour then you should expect to have to convince an employer of that. Just reading your incoherent rant on this forum doesn't convince me that you are a valuable asset.

Get some skills, become more articulate and literate (so that you can clearly and concisely convince an employer of your ability), then you'll get paid more.

Good for you.

However around here there aren't much more than minimum wage jobs available so if you "refused" to work for any employer who paid you less than £10 an hour you most probably wouldn't be able to get a job. Yes there are a few well paid jobs but everyone wants them and you'd be up against 50 other applicants for every one!! Even if you're skilled you have no guarantee of getting a well paid job. Witness all the graduates working in call centres on £6 ph.

Few employers will pay £10 an hour unless its a specially skilled position and hard to fill. It makes no difference how "valuable" you are, they simply won't pay it because there are plenty of others out there looking for jobs.

My partner works his butt off for minimum wage because its better than being on the bloody dole!!!
