Social Security sends an annual statement to everybody over 25 showing the wages reported on their account. If yours does not match your W-2s, this means your employer has not sent Forms W-2 there. After processing, Social Security forwards the information to IRS. Contact Social Security so that your record can be properly updated. |

And how do you know he's not reporting it?
The W-2s for 2008 are not due until 1/31/2009. |

It's very illegal. I'm sure there are hotlines that you could call - just make sure you can prove it. |

I have to agree with VB. When you get your 2008 W-2, check to make sure your totals are correct. If they are, your employer has properly reported your withholdings. |

Yes, it is highly illegal for an employer to collect social security taxes on an employee and not report it. That money goes into your social security account for you to draw on when you retire, if social security still exists by the time you are able to draw it. You need to report it whether you loose your job or not. Your employer may be doing the same thing to other employees. He can be fined and possibly go to jail. |

If you have proof that he is withholding the tax and not forwarding it to the Social Security Administration you can send an anonymous tip to their hot line. They will investigate it. You will need to provide the name of the employer and his employer identification number (EIN). |

Go to IRS.GOV and query it; or, call the Social Security toll-free number and rat him out. If an employer is holding withheld taxes it is usually a sign he is about to take a powder and leave no forwarding address. |

Go to the social security administration website and find the appropriate contact number. It would also be illegal for ur employer to fire you for speaking up.
