This is dependent on more info than you have given. It would depend on your income...example: I just did my sisters taxes and her refund was the same either way because she didn't make enough for the head of household deduction to work in her favor. Most times the HOH is better but the only way to know is to figure it out both ways before submitting it.

I have never seen a case where it is better to file as single if you can file as HOH. If you are entitled to HOH, you should definitely do it!!!

It might turn out the same, but if you qualify for head of household, file that way - it will either end up the same as single, or better for you.
