If H&R Block does your taxes...?
The fee was $166 for them to do our taxes, and I heard from two people that you get reimbursed. I didn't think so, but is this true??

Gary
It sounds like you can learn to do your own taxes and save yourselves some money. You only paid $166 for your taxes it sounds like your return was simple to do. Believe it or not for a lot of wage earners, doing your own taxes is not rocket science.

Hi!

As far as I know there is no reimbursement that you can receive with regard to your tax prep fee. If you itemize, you can claim your tax prep fee there but there is nothing else.

Hope this helps.

If H&R Block does your taxes...

...then you probably got screwed. They overcharge.

George M
sure, and i have a bridge i would like to sell you.....no they do not reimburse, they are in the business to make money, not give it away.

try going to www.turbotax.com instead. it is free to file a simple 1040.
costs $30 for returns involving itemizing. the program is real easy and it practically does everything for you.

bostonianinmo
Who is going to reimburse you??

Tax prep fees are deductible IF you itemize, however the savings on a $166 tax prep fee won't be much and you can't deduct it until NEXT year since you paid it in 2009.

no, otherwise their services would be free.......and they ain't

Who told you that info? SOMEbody has been misinformed. You may deduct your tax prep fees on next years tax return (and then only if you itemize)...No one is going to reimburse you now.

If you itemized this year and you itemize next year, the tax prep fee can be used as a tax deduction. Someone mentioned that the savings won't be much and although that's true it's not a very good way to look at it. The goal w/ taxes is to take all the deductions you're allowed and in the end each one of these can add up to a larger refund.

rtfm
No, of course not. Who would reimburse you, and why?

that girl
yeah you shouldnt of did next day return they *raped you^
