If I am married and providing the only income for my household; can I file as head of household on my taxes?
No. You have to be single with a qualifying child/relative to be considered Head of Household.
shiprepairwoman
No that is for single parents
bostonianinmo
No, you may not.
Your ONLY options are Married Filing Jointly and Married Filing Separately.
You can always file MJF even if only one of you has income and if only one of you has income you'll virtually ALWAYS pay the least tax that way -- less than you would as HoH even if you could file that way.
InquiringMind
No, you do not meet the qualifications of HOH.

No, you can't file as head of household, but you get an even better deal if you file a joint return. You can do that even if your spouse doesn't have any income.
Steve
No, your only options are either MFJ or MFS.
In your case, you should file MFJ to get the lowest tax liability.
If you filed HOH, you would pay more in taxes.

Hey Jay,
If you are doing your own taxes, "ruthieto" has the best advice.....go to irs.gov..
If you have kids, be sure to check into EIC (earned income credit). HOH and MFJ have the same tax advantage but, you can't be married and living together to file HOH.
cliff f
yeah, but you better check it out both ways. filing jointly might get you more money
