Go to a pay phone and call 1-800-829-4059. That is the number of the Taxpayer Advocate. It is an independent organization within the IRS that helps taxpayers resolve problems with the IRS and recommend changes that will prevent the problems. They do not charge to assist you. Or go the web address below and click on the state you are in to find the local office of the Taxpayer Advocate. Good Luck.

Find out the address of the nearest IRS office and go there in person.

the call is free from a pay phone, because it is a toll free number.
1-800-829-1040.
If you don't call they will freeze your checking accounts and any savings you might have.

Write a letter to IRS, and make sure to include your social security number, tax year. Explain your situation of why you can't pay. IRS will send you a letter within 60 days to let you know what your options are.
Check IRS website for address to mail your letter to. Keep a copy of the letter for your records.

If you cannot call, there is an address you can write to. It will be on your bill. You can also look for addresses on www.irs.gov.

Email is really not a good way to contact the IRS. What they like you to do is send in as much money as you can. They will then bill you for the balance with interest & penalty.

Well, you obviously have use of a computer. This suggests that you live somewhere near civilization where there is probably a pay phone you can use to call the toll-free number listed on the bill you received. It's also probable that you have a friend or relative that would be kind enough to let you use their phone for free to make a toll-free call to the IRS.

You can't email the IRS, by the way. And once you do find a telephone, don't bother calling the Taxpayer Advocate as you don't meet the criteria for their intervention.

Use a payphone or a libraries e-mail! There is no excuse for not being able to contact them! Your obviously on the internet to write this question.

Misty
How did you ask this question? You should be able to figure it out.

bklyn_40
email. visit. go to a neighbor or friend and borrow there phone. Take some coins to a (ready???) pay phone (ancient yes, but still works).
