Sales tax does not equal income tax.

sales tax is a method of taxing every one with out an income tax.

The taxes you're paying are sales taxes. The taxes you file on are Income taxes, based on wages earned at work. Your parents get a tax deduction for you since you're a minor living in their home and they provide for your well being. Don't start complaining about taxes so early. Where do you think the money for roads, police, firefighters, the military, schools, care for the poor, etc. comes from? Taxes pay for all of that.

It's a way of trying to distribute the taxation load fairly. If it was only based on income, then many people would find ways to understate their income and so not pay the right tax, and the people who report income correctly would end up paying a higher rate of tax to meet the needs of government and infrastructure.

A tax on goods is harder to avoid. Even if people get a lot of income and hide it, they still get taxed when they spend their money to buy stuff. So it makes it more equitable.

It's always a balancing act to try to make the system fair and difficult to evade so that, generally, people pay an appropriate amount of tax.

The trouble is that most people seem to think that an 'appropriate amount' of tax for them to pay is zero. But this is because they have no brains.

You are never too young to file taxes, it depends on your income. The reason you don't have to file is that you don't work so don't have income.

Sales tax is a separate kind of tax, and applies to the sale of goods. It has nothing to do with income tax.

If sales taxes are levied where you are shopping, you must pay them. They are not dependent upon your income or whether you have an income tax liability or not. Apples and Oranges, my friend.

Because you are going to buy something everyday. Then, you have to pay TeX everyday.

I wish I could say, you don't. But welcome to life, not being smart at all. It seems that if you don't work, don't file for taxes, than you should not be liable. But....I am sure someone has claimed you on their taxes, and that is where the circle begins and ends. Hope this helps. Lisa
