It doesn't matter if only one spouse if you file jointly. The tax rebate is based on your joint 2007 earnings and Federal Income Tax liability.
You would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $1200 if you paid that much in Federal Income Tax. If you only paid $750 in taxes (less than the $1200 rebate limit), you only get back $750. If you had earned income of at least $3000, you would get at least the minimum rebate of $600 ($300 each).
Use the Kiplinger rebate tax calculator (link below) to compute your rebate. |

A married couple (regardless of whether both work) is eligible for *up to* $1200 total. |

It depends on how much tax you paid for 2007. |

Well you should get 1200 and if you have children you will get an extra 300 each for them. Hope this helps |

The law does not specify if both individuals have to work. It just states that a person filing single will get $600 and a married couple filing jointly will get $1200. Plus $300 for each kid, uncertain on limit of child rebate.
edit:
someone provided financial markers.
They were incorrect.
It is $600 for a single person who makes less than $75,000 before taxes.
It is $1200 for a married couple who make less than $150,000 before taxes.
If you income is over these markers than your rebate will be less based on how much you actual make above them.
I hope this gives you a little more info. |

I suggest going to www.irs.gov for the answer to that, because they have in-depth answers about the rebates, including different scenarios that might affect the amounts you recieve. Off the top of my head, however, if you hadn't earned at least 3000 this year, you probably aren't going to get any rebate for you, just your husband getting the $600. |
