Other answers are incorrect - the amount you pay depends on your incoem so far this tax year - you or may not be a higher rate taxpayer.

You should pay in the region of £750 in tax and NI on that sort of income per month

It'll work out to about £500 a month, thats not including N.I. payments.

It can depend slightly on you circumstances.

Try the link below to work it out for yourself

P.S. Everyone else seems to have forgetten that we get a tax free allowance, i.e. a certain amount a year that is not taxed.

I earned £3080 this month and paid about £800 tax. Then other deductions for pension and student loan.

with our goverment about 2500 of it!!! but id say you will lose about a thousand or just under

steven_prentice_666
I would normally say that the government takes 1/3 as direct tax and NI - so £1000, however this is based on about £25k and not £36k a year so you will pay a larger proportion (there is a smaller effect of the tax allowance the more you earn). Might be that you have to pay £1200 a month

Great question . Where do you live ? Not all countries have the same tax rate . in uk you will pay 25% roughly in tax and nat ins.

Louise R
About £800 in tax and national insurance
