Yes. You should probably do this as soon as possible, since your return should have been filed by April 15, and there may be penalties and interest accruing.
If you are self-employed and earned more than $400, you are required to fill out a self-employment form (Schedule SE), attached to your regular form 1040. You also need to report your income and expenses on a Schedule C.
Here's the IRS info:

No. But you will need to pay Social Security taxes, so you will have to file a tax return. Include Schedule SE. |

$8000 net of writing income equals $1130 of SE tax.
If you are NOT a dependent, no income tax. If you are a dependent, the amount over $5350 is taxed. |

Probably not but......
You must pay "Self-employment" taxes on the income which is basically social security and medicare.
If you have $8000 in self-employment income, you are single and no one else claims you you would owe $0 in income taxes but $1130 in self-employment taxes. |

Yes, if you made over $400 as a freelancer you have to file a tax return. You might or might not owe income tax, but you would owe self-employment tax, for social security and medicare. |

YES, the cutoff is like $3400.00 or $3800.00 . When you file at the end of the year you will get it all back! |

Only if you have more from another job
You have to file but thats all. |

No, but you do still have to file. Your expneses and standard deductions will easily cover that. |

If your parents claimed you as a dependent, no. But if you earn OVER $600 a year yes you have to file, and you are in trouble and now will have to pay a fine since the deadline was April 15. You can go to jail for doing this. Contact the IRS and file now! |
