Not sure what you mean by screwed. If you don't have any earned income, you don't get a refund - there's nothing to refund. SSI isn't taxable, and if it's really SSDI, it isn't taxable if that's your only income.

Umm, well, since you have no income, you can get refunded for what you didn't pay. A refund, is just that. A refund. You have to pay, to get it refunded.
