it depends on how much you make, their are guidelines for qualifying to receive earned income credit. earned income credit for a child is between $1200 and $1500

It depends on a number of variables. Is this your child, who lived with you? You'd get an exemption for the child, plus if he/she is under age 17, a tax credit of up to $1000. Depending on your income and filing status, you might also become eligible for an earned income credit. So the total could be over $1000, but not necessarily.

If it isn't your child you are talking about, you probably can't claim him or her.

First you have to have a dependent that you *can* claim.

Then you have to do the tax return to see if having a dependent makes any difference.

The $2500 number that people are bandying about is meaningless!

hundreds but do u want the child or the money...

PIXIE
umm hundreds why

Depends upon your income, filing status and what credits you qualify for, if any. What's more, getting a refund depends upon your tax liability and how much tax was withheld from your pay. If you've underpaid you could have 10 kids and you'd still have to pay when you filed.

It should be about $1500.00 per dependent / child, the amount refunded can change depending on your income and what tax form you use to file with.

i claimed 2 kids last year and got $9,000 back but i paid $18,000 that year

In EIC or what?

The biggest leap is for the first, then good for the second. Drops off heavy on the third and up.

Plus depends on how much you make.

If it's contested make sure you file first.

biking for life
I think its two thousand.
