If I work 55 hours a week and make $500 a week, would I have to pay taxes at the end of the year?
Or would I end up getting a big tax return instead?

It all depends on if you're self-employed or an employee. If you're self-employed, don't have much in the way of business expenses, and didn't make quarterly payments, you'll definitely owe.

If you're an employee, it depends on how much income tax your employer withheld from your wages.

It depends on your withholding, filing status, deductions and other factors. A "return" is what you file every year. A "refund" is money you get back from overwithholding.

Doctor Deth
depends on how much in federal taxes you are getting withheld (form w-4)

It all depends on if you have any dependent's. If you do u might get earned income credit. I also depends on how much you made at the end of the year because earned income credit only goes so high.

Cupid
It depends on a lot of things. It depends on how many dependents you have, if you itemize, how much you claim on your W4 and how much withholdings are taken out, also if you are self employed, you will have to pay self employment tax. At 26,000 a year, you will likely be eligible for the EIC if you have dependents. Best Wishes.

Yes, why would you think that you wouldn't owe taxes? You make 26k per year. However, if they are taking out during the year then you may have already paid your liability & be owed a refund. Your question is not complete enough to be able to answer.

if you get a statement of earnings every year you are in the system and will pay taxes on your income no matter where you live.
