If a job pays 16000 per annum how much will that be a month after tax?
a new job states 16000-18000 annually just curious as to the monthly pay after tax,and if its worth it as i'm a single mum.

It does depends slightly on your circumstances. As a single, working Mum you might well get extra tax allowances.

For a general guide, these websites might help - the top one is the clearest in my opinion but some of them give different results.

http://listentotaxman.com/

http://www.freelanceuk.com/money/paye_calculator.php

http://www.parasolitcalculator.co.uk/

According to the top website, £16k per year gross will turn into £12,847.60 NET (after tax) per year. Just over £1000 per month (£1070)

You can't use the excuse of being a parent to avoid work forever (meant politely - I understand being a parent is certainly a full time job), so getting a job sooner rather than later will give you the chance to progress further and earn even more, sooner. It's a question of if you want to work towards a better quality of life.
I hope this helps!

Good luck with the job!

When you say 'worth it' do you mean worth financing your own life, rather than living on hand outs? The answer must be yes, even just for your own self-esteem.

Are you in the UK? You'd take home roughly £1,100 pcm, maybe a little more.

Lindsay W
approx take home £1000 per month and you will get tax credit and probably housing benefit aswell so go for it!

It just depends on whether you have other earnings/income/ child allowance etc. there isn't one specific rule that covers everyone. Also take note of Robert D above.

Do the math!!
Surely you can do simple maths to work this easy question.

Saying that, if the job is only paying 16000 she prob can't do math.
