If a stripper pays taxes will she get money back from the goverment?

love.potion69
Strippers are considered independent contractors. They must sign a 1099 form before being employed at a club. This allows the club to report the dancer's earnings to the IRS. When she receives the 1099 form back, it will show how much money she made (or how much money the club could track, usually credit card tips).

Yes, a dancer can receive a refund.

Breast implants ARE a deduction, if the dancer can prove she made significantly more money with them. Cynthia Hess, an exotic dancer, sued the IRS in 1994 for not allowing her implants as a deduction, and won. Other deductions include housefees, costumes, shoes, etc with a receipt.

Yes, its a legal job in the US. It depends on how much she makes, most strippers get a lot in tips, so they might end up owing money if they claim them.

Only if her deductions outweigh taxes paid. Strippers can actually deduct boob jobs and other plastic surgeries.

yes. why wouldn't she?

Betty Boop
Sure..it's her business and she's not exempt from taxes so she is due back what is her's or overpaid.

Probably not. Butit depends how everything is set up. I had one dancer as a client (there were no side benefits, don't even ask) , she was not considered an employee, she was an independant contractors. In fact, she paid the club owner a fee every night to dance there. The money she made was form tips.

Under this type of plan, they would not have any taxes withheld, thus there is nothing to refund at the end of the year.

The only way they could get money back at the end of the year is if they qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, or the Additional Child Tax Credit, and those credits are larger than the amount of money earned.

If a stripper has taxes withheld, then she could get a refund, just like any other employee would.

Kim M R
why not if she pays in and her employer deducted taxes, and she paid more in then she owes then she would get a refund like any other tax paying citizen.

deftones999us
yeah, if she pays in. That's actually a job.

mom_single_sexy

yes she can, it happens all the time. The best thing to do is keep all your receipts for any outfits and those are deductible along with boob jobs or anything cosmetic.

yeah but you dont have to claim all the money you make.... just like waitressing

I know, I know!!!!
Rating
yes, if she has proof that she made the wages and paid taxes, such as a W2 form from the employer.

STEVEN F
If I pay taxes, will I get money back for the government? The IRS doesn't care how the money is earned. If she sent more to the IRS than she owed, she will get a refund. If she sent less than she owed, she still owes them. It works the same for strippers as it does for the rest of us.

michael p
I depends on if she withheld enough taxes for her level of wages.
But it is a good possibility.

the majority of thier income comes from tips, these are not taken each day or week put must be on thier reported income same as a waitress. The reported amount must be paid at tax time but they will not get money back because they havn't given it to them yet.

Life after 45
Since "stripping" is legal in most states, and she is legally employed, not paid under the table, it depends on her actual income, and how much tax was taken, so long story short, a legal stripper can get a tax refund just like any other employee.

Andrew B
ask a professional in your area.... as a beautiful woman i have no doubt you can make a friend (NOT WHILE WORKING OR ANY CUSTOMER OF THE CLUB) and ask him a few questions. Any new CPA with a heart will usually take a charity case :) the CPA will be able to help you now, check your past returns to protect from penalties, and set u up for the fututre....

If anyone pays in more taxes than they owe, they will get a return.

Sami
If she's employed through a tax-paying company then yes, she would.

LD
In response to Alex D's answer: yes you do need to claim everything you make. While most people don't claim tips from watiressing or dancing, if the establishment (restaurant, club, etc) you work for gets audited, all of the employees who make tips will also get audited. If the IRS finds that you haven't paid adequate taxes on tips, they will send you a big bill.

Mary Smith
sure why not

maria fkun
If federal and state taxes are paid in full when the time comes for refund from the govt, if refund is due to you, you will receive it,

Yes - and she can write off the stripping pole as an expence.

mimi
If she has overpaid her taxes, she will be due a refund.

When she gets her employment slip and does her tax return and if she over paid in taxes then yes she will get a refund.

Barkley Hound
You normally get money back if too much was withheld from your pay or in your quarterly estimates.

There are some programs for very low income people where you can actually get more than you paid.

Hmmm. Strange question. Do you think we shouldn't get money back for some reason or are you asking because you need to file yourself and you are a stripper?

Been a stripper/dancer/entertainer for 11 years.

File taxes, most years I've gotten money back, one year I had to pay. I'm better at claiming the correct deductions now. ;-)
And NO, you can't claim your plastic surgery as a deduction, that is a falsehood. The only way you'd be able to claim a boob job is if you got one that was sooooo big that you were able to be a big-boob feature or something like that. Otherwise, you can't prove the boobs are *only* for work purposes. Get it?? No other forms of plastic surgery qualify for deduction either.

That Cynthia Hess person back in the day WAS a big boob feature...she was "chesty love" love.potion69 needs to get her facts straight...see the link below for PROOF it's people like her giving false advice that could get some people into pretty big trouble.

and she also needs to realize that not ALL dancers are independent contractors, it depends on how the club you are working at is handling things.

Go to HR Block, they will have all the forms you need. If you didn't get a W-2, you will have to estimate the amount of money you have earned to the best of your ability and keep better track next year.

sure, why not?

LaLa

If she files her taxes legally, then probably not. Yes, of course, she'll have a W2 with all the standard taxes and deductions, BUT the majority of her income would come from TIPS from which no taxes are withheld. So, if she files her taxes to include ALL income, then no, she will have to pay.
