If i buy a piece of property and knock down the house, do I still have to pay taxes on the house?
If i buy the property knock down the house and don't build a new house on the property for a few years do I still have to pay taxes as if the house was still there? Or do i just pay taxes on the property (land)?

you need to apply for a demoliton permit at your citty hall, planning commission etc. after it is demolished, the land will have to be reassessed for land, not land + home, so that you won't have taxes for the home +land.

Make sure the tax assessor's office is aware the building no longer exists. They may have to reevaluate your property once demolition is complete.

you need to get a permit before you tear down the structure, and there may be fines for this. If the city doens't know you tore the building down, they won't know not to charge you for taxes on it.

First of all, in some area's, you might have to apply for a permit before you constructively remove anything,
that being done,..
Explaining your intent, apply for a reassessment of the property in question,
After which, you should only have to pay tax on unimproved property.
Be sure to do it by the book. Some towns hang violators.
Good Luck

Just the land. But you need to make your county assessor aware that your land is vacant. Invite 'em out for the demolition! :)

you need to have it reassesed to get actual value for taxes after you make the change to the land

You would just have to pay taxes on the land... Though, you have to get a tax surveyor to come out (in most cases) to confirm that there is no more house at that property...

addabece
you got it tax on land the land is the property

First yo have to get a demo permit, once the house has been demolished you must present those documents, then you do not pay the housing tax, but you will always pay the property tax.

either way you still have to pay taxes.
