You would file married filing jointly..as if you were married for the whole year of 2008. You have an option of married filing separately, but generally that is not the best way to file

Married. If you were married as of 12/31/08, you file as married.

I would file a joint-return with your current husband, as you were married in 2008. If you need assistance, try one of the local tax-filing offices, such as HR Block (for a minimal fee they can walk you through preparing your taxes to get the optimal tax return).

As married. It would be stupid to file single since married couples get a better break on taxes.

You would file as either married filing jointly or married filing seperately. You may want to prepare your taxes both ways to see which works out more favorably for you and then submit it that way.

Look at them both ways and select the filing option that gives you more of a return and/or less taxes to pay. The answer depends on your income, single or jointly.
