If i have had no national insurance number since feb 06 and been working since then will i get a payback on?
tax

Cari
You can't not have had a number since February '06. Once you have one, it's yours for life.

If you mean that you have never had one but you have been working, then you will have been deducted tax at the emergency rate which is higher than the regular rate and yes, you should be entitled to a refund.

You keep the same national insurance number no matter what.

Do you mean tax code? This defines how much tax you have deducted from your pay packet. Usually when you leave a job you will receive a P45 which details your year to date earnings and tax. Without a P45 you will likely have been put on emerency tax - Basic rate - which is a flat rate of 21%. In which case you should get tax back

Are you an Immigrant??

How have you been paying tax with out an NI number/required details?

You might actually be asked for an extra NI contribution.

Phoenix-79
If you are from the UK and your birth was registered you have a national insurance number, infact it is a known fact there are more national insurance numbers registered in the uk than the actual quantity population. i suggest you visit the link below in order to sort it out. If you have been working and not paying tax or national insurance its fraud get it sorted before they contact you.

pobbles
Why would you expect a rebate of N.I. contributions? If you are ill you expect a doctor to be available, and to receive a state pension when you retire, don't you?

starlet108
I don't see why you should - No national Insurance No means you should not have been working anyway !!!!!!!!!!!

If you have been earning money without paying national insurance on it, you may not need a "payback" since you will likely be in a cell!

I think you need to talk to an employment lawyer!

D B
contact your local jobcentre. If you have not been issued with a number they should be able to sort it out for you.

Why don't you try and apply for deal or no deal. It is a pointless program, but if you win, you won't need to work for a while, you can live off you 'winnings'.

wild_eep
have you been on a proper payroll? If so you will have been placed on an emergency NI number (those things shouldn't exist, really) and will have been paying too much tax. You are due a partial rebate of that.

Save your payslips

Get your NI number

Write to tax office and say that's MINE that rebate, so it is
