I thought they were required to provide it? If it were me, I'd call the hotline number for the IRS & ask them what to do...they provide a monster staff of folks for tax season who can look up just about any information you might need.
Other routes would involve the better business bureau or the sales tax office. They might not be affiliated with the former but should need a sales tax # even if all they do every quarter is file $0.00 due to the nature of the service.
I still think the IRS will be your best bet. At least you will know that you are being given the correct information... |

Contact the state agency that licenses daycares. They will either have the information or will cause it to be delivered to you. This is assuming they are licensed in the first place. If they accept any payments from state agencies for like daycare subsidies, they have to be licensed. If they are not licensed, you are in a little tougher situation.
If you don't mind finding a new daycare, you could threaten to report them to the IRS. If they aren't providing you that information, what do you think is the likelihood that they are reporting the revenue to the IRS? |

Try contacting your local town hall or the town hall that your provider works in. If your child care giver is licensed then they will have it. Also did you sign a contract? If so I beleive it is on there also.
Or you can threaten to quit, like suggested above, but if there is a contract involved find it and read it to protect yourself. |

Is this a babysitter or an actaul day care?
If a babysitter, I know it's wrong, tax-wise, but most assume you are not going to report that. They are saving you money.
A real day care shouldn't refuse. |

if it a person, get their ssn. you can file it with that. if it is a daycare they are supposed to give you their number which is call and "ien" number. if they dont give it to you than they should be reported because they are supposed to. if you cant get their number there is a way you can file, but you have to mail it in. you cant electronically file it. |
