Yes absolutly.
The only thing that wuld stop is the childcare part of it (If you got it of course) You will probably find that your child tax credit will go up.
Ring 0845 300 3900
or go to https://www.taxcredits.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/Qualify/WhatAreTaxCredits.aspx

Yes.

The credit applies regardless.

However, if you have no income, you have no return.

Please note, if you are Canadian, and you are both going to take paternal leave (total 1 year split between the two of you), you have to claim EI for the time you are not working.

yes child tax credits are payable whether working or not

just a quick note for Daz though, any money in a bank account gains interest, inland revenue are made aware of this & they then feed this info to benefits, so don't be fooled into thinking just cos you don't tell them about it they don't know about it, its just a matter of time before you end up behind bars & having to pay it all back for benefit fraud!!!

Yes you are, unless you have savings of (i think) £21000 in the bank. Child tax credit is unaffected if you stop working, however, you are only entitled to working tax credit if you are actually working (hence the title!)

you will be entitled to child tax credit, depending on the money you have in savings, i think its something like £60,000 that wipes out child tax credit, you can check on line

DAZ :o)
hello, thie answwr to your question is "Yes" the also "working" tax credit will be replaced with income support (the dole) you'll also be entiled to local council benefits too like getting housing benifit to pay towards rent/mortgage and you souldn't be stung for council tax either this is covered under the local council "housing benefit" too. BUT. TAKE NOTE.
all and every benefit claim will ask to see latest "3" months statements to see what cash you have in bank accounts and if you have lots, you won't get a penny they calculate your payment "award" but then look at your funds in bank accounts and divide that with your funds over weeks e.g:- £500 in your bank and your entitled to £100 in benefits, a week they say you've got "5" weeks of cash in your account already (5x£100) so your money from benefits will start in "5" WEEKS TIME... BUT and a BIG "BUT" if you have a "Bank" account" and lets say a building society account just inform them of the one you dont have much money in (but dont withdraw all your money cos they see that on the bank statements -- although if its about £400 ish then you can say that was used to pay the last mortage/rent payment)) luckly i have a dead account thats got pennies in so i just show them that !!!!! PLAY THE GAME I'M A 17K EARNER BUT IF I GO OUT OF WORK I PLAY THE GAME WE PAY TAXES GET EM BACK. THEY CANT SNOOP INTO BANK ACCOUNTS WITHOUT YOU TELLING THEM ABOUT THEM..... MAKE OUT YOUR PENNYLESS. ----- Child Tax credits are like Family allowance/child benefit they're based on having a child not circumstances everybody from the prime minister on £165k to a toilet cleaner on £8k get the same'ish
