If my income is less than the prescribed IT limit should I file IT returns for that year.?
I have been filing IT returns regularly. Filed IT returns for the financial Year 2006-2007. I resigned from my job in march 2007. Earnings for the year 2007- 2008 less than the prescribed limit for tax payment. Is it mandatory to file IT returns for the assessement year 2008-09.

Thanks

If you are filing your returns for the first time, then you can skip your returns because of below taxable income. But when you are a regular assessee, you should file your returns (Below taxable returns). If you skip your returns, the department may send you a notice, if you file your returns for the nest FY:2008-09 or so with taxable income.

Take the help of some one and file the returns. The ITR-1 or ITR-2 are very easy to fill. You can take the help of some one in Yahoo answers it self. There are about 7 to 8 persons in TAXES-INDIA who can help you correctly in filling your returns for free.

its alwaya advisable to file i.t. return every year even your income for this year is below i.t. limit file return of 'nil' ( no tax money payment) as it will be benificial in comming years when your income will increase.

Will its not a must. But it will good if you file it. So that atleast you can add up some papers as documented proof of a Good citizen

There is no need to file the return. It's not mandatory. However, I would suggest that you do, for various reasons, like visa, etc.

When you have no income where is the question of income tax. There is no need to file the returns.

even if your income is less than the prescribed IT limit, you must file your IT return.

Its not mandatory to file return, if ur income for the previous year is less than the prescribed limit.
But i would suggest you to file ur return because it will help u to maintain ur IT file which is very important in todays world.
U can file ur return before 31st March, 2009.
