Obviously there is some truth to your statement but it is not reasonable to think that all poor people receiving these funds will purchase drugs etc, nor is it any more reasonable to assume that the middle class will save or invest it, where it would truly benefit the economy. Plenty of folks will go straight to Best Buy and buy electronics. Most, however, will probably use it to simply catch up on the basics, i.e. food, heat and overdue bills. Cost-of-living is out of control. |

I think that is total bullshit! Not all "low income" families spend money on rims, chains, and drugs. I am a low income family and we spend out money to better our family, bills, groceries, rent, clothes for our children, upkeep of our vehicles (so we can continue to work) etc.... So to say that all low income families will spend their money on bullshit makes you a total asshole! |

Only those who file taxes are eligable to get the rebate. Drug dealers usually don't file taxes, so they won't get a rebate check |

not all poor people use drugs. the rebate can be especially helpful to families with kids for things like clothing, toys, car insurance and even food. painting all falow income families with the same brush is very narrow-minded, boarding on ignorant. maybe doing something other than being on the computer all the time, like reading a book, would broaden your horizons. |

Actually in a way, it would benefit the economy. Although drug dealers do not pay taxes, they do buy things. If they are purchasing rims, gold, chains and whatever else, then they are helping the economy. They still have to buy food and pay for shelter. All these things are putting money in other people's pockets. Paying taxes has nothing to do with this program.
And second, just because a family has a low income does not mean they are going to go buy drugs. There are a lot of rich people out there doing drugs too. |

It will have almost no lasting effect on the economy. But....you miss a very important point. Poor people don't save money. They will spend every last dime and that will go right back into the economy. McDonalds will see that on their bottom line and hire a few more kids. |

Tax rebate checks wont hit too many low income households, and the rebates are the republicans last ditch effort to buy votes.
