Just that the bailiffs have askedf for more than i can afford £90 PW, we are on low income, housing benefit and have 3 children, no way on this earth i can pay £90 PW & pay my c.tax for this year its impossible.

u should have seeked help before this stage citzens advice may help or speak to them they may reduce payments but they do mean business so don't muck them about but no you cant tell the council no you wont deal with them as they are court instructed sorry
typical of the council u gave them info therefore they ar at fault for not updating thier records when my gran passed away 18mnths ago we informed the pensions department about her death and they said ok but we cant stop payments at present we need all paper work they was given death certificate first etc but any money over payed will have to be re payed idiots y not stop it in the first place i know this is irrelevant but shows how useless these people really are at sorting out our issues with these departments i hope you sort it out ok good luck |

Quick answer... no. The council can't simply take money from your wages... and you can't tell them you won't deal with their allocated collection agency.
However, you are in trouble and need professional advice. Go and see the Citizens Advice Beureau. They are very good and can say more sensible and reliable things than someone on Yahoo can do. This will be free.
It may well be possible to negotiate more affordable payments. |

you will have to deal with the debt collection agency / bailifs.
However they can't take what you aint got. You need to write to them, proving your weekly /monthly income, detailing your expenses, offer a payment amount you feel you can afford, you should be able to come to a compromise on weekly payments. however once you get it sorted you must keep to the payment dates and pay the correct amount, otherwise they will take further action and you will incur interest and other charges. keep a copy of all communication, be reasonable with the amount you offer and don't be bullied into paying more than you can afford. |

My friend works at a county court and she says that the bailiffs are really helpful in cases like this so why not ring them and explain your situation,you may be surprised. Good luck.x |

You have ignored the council over this community tax debt and now they want the money that is owed.These things do not go away,the bailiffs will get a court order to enter your home to remove goods to the value of the debt,which is accumulating
each time they visit you.Advise from officials is your only way forward or go to the county court when the bailiffs decide to prosecute you.People here have given you advise ,take it or finish up in court. |

the council would have tried to make contact and sort things out with you before sending in the bayliffs so you obv aint been comunicating with them and left them with no choice. they have brought in bayliffs now and they wont send them away. maybe you should ahve thought about havign 3 kids before you decided you were 'to poor to cope'...people like you make me angry. my tax is paying for you to have 3 kids you cant afford and live in a council house and rec loads of benefits. its disgusting. |

Miss Natasha is right, they would have contacted you before sending the bailiffs as this is a last resort measure.
You could try contacting the council to see what they can do or get in touch with the Citizens Advice Bureau for help however it may be too little too late as obviously you have been putting this off and it has now come back round on you! |
