If you already filed your tax return and didnt file all your w2 can you file the ones you didnt?

Mr R
Yes, you can file an amendment to the return and make what corrections you need.

Gary
You will have to amend your federal and state tax returns.

Judy1
You have to file an amended return on a form 1040X to claim ALL of your income on one return, you can't just file a second return for the missing ones..

Yes, you will need to file and amendment to your return. The IRS is usually pretty good about contacting you if you did not do file correctly.

tonalc1

You will need to file an amended tax return. There are forms for this available from the IRS.

travelguruette
You need to file an amended return. Wait for your original return to be processed first or it will really mess things up. You will need to mail in the return it cannot be efiled.

Hopefully you made a copy of the return before you filed it. Make a copy of that, attach the unsent W-2s, and write up a cover letter saying this is a duplicate filing to include W-2 forms inadvertently left of the original reurn when it was filed. This way, they have all the information they need to complete your return, such as SSN and such, and helps to bury them under that much more paperwork.

I am presuming that the income amounts were included in the original filing and you simply forgot to attach the W-2. If this is the case it is not really an amended return because you are not changing any of the numbers. An amended return simply lists the original numbers, and beside them the correct new numbers, and the difference in resulting tax. If all your original numbers were correct, and you simply forgot to attach a W-2, you are not amending the return, you are simply sending in an additional form that does not change the original in any way.

I had to make an amended return one year because I 'forgot" to include a W-2 form and its income on my tax return. I sent in this amended return a couple of weeks later along with the additional tax payment and it was fine, but this is not what it sounds like you need to do.
