All rubbish! They check your earnings, and every year you have to declare it - they only investigate if they think you are defrauding nothing else.
If you get them overpaid you just have to pay it back out of what they will still give you - i.e. if you're supposed to get 50, you will only get 45 until the overpayment is done.

you have to tell them my work never told them how many i was doing i did a bit of over time but when you renewed your claim you have to tell them how much you have got the year before then they check to see if you earn to much and take it off you the next year
