As soon as you get it, FILE IT ! April 15 is just the deadline to file it. But if you have it like right now, do it tomorrow and you;ll get it back within3 -4 weeks. |

I e-filed yesterday with Turbotax.com (cost me $30) and my refund is estimated to be directly deposited into my account Feb 6th. The sooner you file, the soon you get your refund.
If you take your taxes to be filed by places like H&R Block, don't get their tax anticipation loan. The fees are very high, and if you efile, you'll get your refund in a week or so for free. |

The date you file your return does not have bearing on the turnaround time for your refund.
What does have bearing is the method for submitting the return and requesting the refund.
For fastest turnaround, submit the return electronically AND provide your bank account information for direct deposit of the refund.
If you submit a paper return or request a paper refund check, the turnaround time will be slower.

The sooner you file the quicker you get it. The later you file the longer it takes to get your refund. its 1 week versus 3-4 weeks. |
