Additional Details
Haha mojoeagle! I wouldn't be that stupid. Your comment makes me want to laugh(thinking of someone actually doing that) and be mad at the same time. Anyways though, I really am a widow and was just curious.

Maybe. If you are a "qualifying widow" then you can file using joint rates for two years after the death of your spouse. To be a qualifying widow, you have to have a dependent child.

The year your spouse dies, you can file a joint return whether or not you have any children..

If your spouse died in 2007 and you filed a joint return, you would be eligible for a rebate based on the joint return.

If your spouse died in 2005 or 2006, you may be eligible to file as a Qualifying Widow. This requires that you have a dependent child (could be a grandchild) living with you. You would not receive any additional rebate, it would be the same as if you had filed single or head of household.

If your spouse died before 2005, then your filing status does not take into account that you are a widow and your rebate is the same as if you were not a widow.

No. Same as single. (Actually less as you would pay less in tax and have a harder time qualifying for the full $600.)

In all likelihood, you will get $300 for you. You'd actually have to pay taxes to qualify for $600. Since your husband died in 2006, you don't get anything for him.

probably

Yes, as long as you filed as you filed a joint return, even though your spouse is no longer living, you still had to account for the AGI on the person

Got the Answer?
not sure...look at the irs website...you can calculate your return.

If you mis-filed on your tax return, hope you don't get caught because that's.. Um, how do you say.. Illegal.

Even if your spouse died in the past year, you will not receieve any additional benefits, or Tax refund.
If you are buying a home you will. If you have dependant Grands, you can receive addition refund.

This country should give better provision to those who have been a foundation and pillar to it for so many years , but such is not the case. You will need dependants.
