If you had to pay $9 a week extra out of your paycheck to help someone who has no healthcare- would you do it?
Would you pay an additional $20 a week for low cost college?
SO $29 would help pay for healthcare for everyone and lower college costs so that anyone that needed it could get it -----would you do it?
Additional Details

wow! Finally, a question interesting enough that makes me want to contribute an answer...well, my answer is simply NO because of the way the the question is phrased. If I (or anyone, for that matter - math is math, no?) had to pay an extra $29/week it would translate into $116/mo - actually, $145 twice per year. For me, it's not a question of "would I", but "could I".

Not to try and answer for anybody else, but an amount of just over $1,600 a year is nothing trivial for many (most?) people, whatever income level they happen to be at (usually one's resources are tied up the "appropriate" spending level, no?).

Would I WANT to do it? Maybe...if my income were higher and IF the government would match the funds AND contributions were made proportionate to income level (with a cap on "contributions" at the top, of course). Hell, maybe the govt. could work something out where after a certain ammt. they could qualify as tax deductible.

Although after thinking about it for awhile I don't think the govt. would do that if it were matching funds to this "system"...but I rather like this scenario...

No, that comes out to $116 a month. This country pays enough in taxes, I'm not going to start paying for other people's healthcare and college costs.

If the country were to invest some of our tax money without increasing it to help these people, I would be fine with that.

yes I would

I would not want to pay extra when I am already paying taxes.

But I WOULD want the government to do this with my tax money.

And where is it that you get your numbers? You don't define "low cost" college so that's hard to argue, but your numbers appear way off from reality.

I would love to, but I feel as if thats more of the exception...

plus, when its time for my kids to go to college, it would be worth it.

If my $9 per week would give healthcare to everyone including me then sure it would be a good idea. If I had to keep paying the $53 a week I currently pay for my own healthcare plus an extra $9 to benefit just 1 more person then no.
I think anyone who wants to go to college should pay for it so no I would not want to pay $20 a week for someone to get low cost college. If the $20 would give me low cost college then maybe, if I had a desire to go to college.
Truthfully your tax dollars already go towards healthcare and college for the low income.

Yes I would.
