Yes you can file separately even if you have changed your name. Best way to do it it to do both and see which way comes out the best. |

Your choices now that you are legally married are:
Married Filing Jointly
Married Filing Separately
So, yes, you can file separately, but the two of you will almost certainly get back less than you would if you had filed jointly. |

You cannot file as single.
You can file married filing separate, but that's generally the most expensive filing status. Married filing joint is usually best.
If you haven't changed your social security card, use your old name on the married-filing-joint tax return. |

You can always file separately no matter what your name is. That's married filing separately, not single. Lots of people never change their names. If you are married you can file a joing return, or as married filing separately. Those are your only two options |

If you live with your husband (and the IRS assumes you did if you got married in August) you CAN'T file HOH.
If you lie and fiel HOH, you will get caught. When caught, the IRS will make you pay back any excess refund, and if the refund includes EIC, you will be barred from claiming HOH for ten years. |

If I remember right there's a box to choose on your taxes that says, married filing separately. I personally enjoy filing jointly. It's one of the fun things to do when you're married, since we all know taxes are so much fun. |

yes you can file seperately but best to file jointly because you pay less taxes and get more back.just because you haven't changed your name doesn't mean you can't file jointly as long as that's the name on your ss #. you can file with your maiden name.
i've been married since 04/2006 and still use my maiden name to file jointly.don't lose your money by filing seperately. |

Not every woman changes her last name when she gets married. You can file married filing separately and provide your spouses name and ss#. |

Even if you have the same name you can file taxes seperately. Their is a box that says "Married but filing seperately". Just make sure both of you don't try to claim the same things like interest paid on a mortgage, claiming kids (if any), student loans, bank accounts, etc... |
